Percentage in real life

imageimageimageimageimageimage

In Numerical Mathematics our ongoing topic is ‘Percentages’. We have completed little of this topic and we thought we should understand more about what we have learned. So we thought we should expose ourselves to real life applications. To do this we were divided into two groups- Producers and Customers.

To begin with the producers put up stalls by choosing themes and with this we chose 3-6 items, each of them having a discount.

We were asked by the customers and some of the 5th and 6th grade teachers what the price of the item was after discount. We had to show the working by calculating and then giving them the bill (we were thinkers and communicators). In this way we got the proper understanding of the concept of percentages. It made learning fun and interesting. We believe that learning through activities is a better and interesting way to learn the topic.
