On the 30th of August 2011, we, the students of Oakridge IBDP will enact the presentation of the Indian Union Budget in the Lok Sabha. This will be done in the presence of the Chairman People Combine Shri. Naga Prasad Tummala.
The Indian Union Budget is presented by the Finance Minister of India in the parliament every year, in the month of February. The budget has to be passed by both the Houses before it can come into effect on April 1, which marks the start of India's financial year.
Although the actual Budget sessions usually last for a month or more, we will have to enact the entire budget presentation in a short time 
span of 4 hours. This necessitated a few changes in the procedures followed during the budget sessions enacted by us. .
As the role of the Finance Minister is a very important one, the role has been assigned to five students, who will represent different sectors presented in the Budget. . The students who have been assigned the roles of MPs have been divided into Ruling or Opposition parties.
The Budget session would commence with introductory speeches by the Prime Minister and the speaker, who would provide the backdrop for the actual budget presentation. This would be followed up by the budget presentation by the five finance ministers. After the complete budget has been presented, the question hour would commence.
During the question hour, the MPs from both the ruling parties and Opposition would take part in the General Discussion and ask questions on different aspects of the budget, including the allocations for various sectors, and the Government Policy in the context of national as well as international spheres.
Following the General discussion, five committees would be formed, comprising of the various MPs from the ruling and opposition parties. Each committee would be assigned a sector on which it would be required to introduce a Bill. Once a Bill is introduced, questions would be asked by opposition members, who are part of the Demand for Grants (DFG). After the opposition party have completed their questioning, each Bill would be put to vote. The passing of each Bill would depend on the result of the vote. After all the Bills are passed, the budget session would be adjourned.
We, the students of IBDP have worked on the budget session for about 2 months. During this time, we have had done extensive research on the actual budget sessions in the Parliament, made various presentations on the budget session, and have had countless numbers of practice sessions. We and our teachers have worked very hard to try and ensure the success of our budget presentation session. We hope for the best!
