Student Reflection on PYPX

We had a PYP Exhibition for Grade V on Friday, the 27th of December. This Exhibition was something new and fun to learn. I had a great time with the Rights Team inquiring on my Issue. We learned how to communicate with each other during our Exhibition and find out about reliable websites.

I was working under Human Rights under Gender Discrimination. Our team had planned for some models, PPTs, Charts, etc., for the final D-Day to present our understanding. So we had to go to the MPH [Multi-Purpose Hall] where I could see many tables set up with various things and the whole room filled up with different children, mentors, parents, etc.  I had a great time explaining my work with my partner and involving the parents in my work. I was also happy to see the parents getting involved in our work.

Also, we told the parents about the bad effects of Gender Discrimination and asked them to spread awareness to at least one person and I'm happy to know that through our presentation we have taken action. We also received some good feedback from the parents; our Exhibition was a great success. This Exhibition taught me to be independent and communicate with different people.

Magnum Opus for IB PYP — Primary Year’s Program Exhibition

Finally the D–Day of PYP Exhibition that was hyped so much for the right reasons is over. We had this “Magnum Opus” on 27th December, 2013. A day when the students of Grade 5 presented their understanding of the various issues they were dealing with in the finest way possible. There were a total of 5 issues under which the kids were doing their research such as RIGHTS, SELF-MANAGEMENT, CULTURE and CHILD LABOUR.

Apart from Issues in which they have become experts now, students also projected all these years of PYP learning in the best possible way. The central idea for this PYPX was “People Living in Communities Impact the Growth of the Society” that fell under the theme “Who We Are”. Under this, there were various Lines of Inquiry framed for different Issues.

The event was graced by the Principal, Headmistress, Vice Principals, Staff and excited parents. This colourful event had models, PPTs, various creative visual charts, etc. Besides, there were amazing movies, role-plays, talk-shows, etc. which were happening in various different venues. It was a great moment for the teachers who had guided these children for they brought in the best show possible and this made them the proudest mentors.

What an amazing show!

Junior School Founder’s Day Street Play “Andher Nagari”

The performance of junior school students in the street play generated a huge and welcoming response from the audience gathered for the show on the occasion of 13th Founder’s Day Celebrations. The socio comedy “Andher Nagari, Chopat Raja” was performed in a Street Theatre Form by the students. They floored the audience by their amazing performances and exemplary use of props and colorful costumes.

Street Theatre Form is a style of performing among the audience, and can be performed anywhere and anytime with minimal costumes and symbolic props. It needs lot of energy to perform, say dialogues, create live music, and sing loudly to create the ambience. Our little dramatists did it with full vigor and enthusiasm generating awe and cheer among the onlookers.

Map Activity: Place of Birth and Where I Live

As we begin our new unit of inquiry, Culture and Traditions, we did a provocation activity with the help of world maps. We located our place of birth and the place in which we now live on the map. It was interesting to learn about our own culture and the culture followed in our place of birth, and also about how we try to strike a balance between the two cultures. We look forward to learn about the major cultures of the world as we move on.

It was a fun and frolic event filled with music, dance and drama performances along with a senior school presentation of all our talented and skillful peers.

I was a part of the junior school music orchestra. Our practice contained lots of hard work but the appreciation I received from the parents and my peers was phenomenal and it paid off.

Joy of Christmas

Christmas is the best time to spread happiness with the people you share this world. The spirit of Christmas is to bring smiles in the face of every individual. The celebration doubled when Aiden’s Brother Ryan and Father Mr. Thomas accompanied him to spread the joy of Christmas with the little ones of Nursery. The children were excited to hear the story of Christmas from Mr. Thomas and sang melodious songs with them. They also decorated the Christmas tree and enjoyed the cake.

We appreciate the active involvement of Mr. Thomas (Father of Aiden), Ryan (Brother of Aiden) and Aiden for being a part of this celebration.
