Students’ Reflection: CAS Visit to Abhilasha Vocational Centre

On March 28, 2014, Grade 9H visited Abhilasha Vocational Centre for mentally and physically challenged children at BHEL. It was a very enlightening experience. We were able to learn a lot of good qualities from the children. As we entered, they all greeted us with beautiful smiles.

We took chocolates and biscuits to distribute to them. As we passed out our offerings, their faces were resplendent. The children smiled and thanked us. By seeing their faces, we had a burst of joy within us — a feeling that will make you understand that we are a lot more privileged than many people.

After the children enjoyed the gifts, the teachers gave us a tour of the Centre so we could observe their hidden talents. We all felt surprised after seeing such amazing talent within them — they are very blessed children. They showed us how to make paper cups and plates, bouquets, bags, paintings, etc. They were very imaginative.

As we walked around, we saw a very inspirational quote written on the blackboard. It stated: “A smile is like a drop of water in a desert.” That quote inspired us to be kind towards other people. Before leaving the Centre, we thanked the Principal for letting us cherish their contentment for life.
