Student's Reflection: Field Trip to Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum

We were glad and full of excitement to know that we were going to visit a Tribal Museum as part of our current UOI — Self-Identity (Last of the 6 UOI Topics that we inquired this academic year). We had never visited this type of Museum before. The Museum is located in Masab Tank, Hyderabad. The Museum depicts the life and culture of tribal people — people who live in forests.

We watched a movie which described the traditions, trends, rules, and regulations of the tribes and the traits they possess like gentleness, etc. We also got to know that tribal people are mostly found in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

The Museum had life-size figures of tribal people and models of houses they live in. The houses had specific names according to their type. The men wore dhotis and the women wore sarees. Their children went to English and Telugu Medium Schools. They earn their living by growing crops, selling toys, and colorful bead necklaces. They cook in pots on firewood and they eat food like us. They do not have electricity supply in their houses. They speak in their local dialect. It was an interesting and enjoyable Field Trip.
