Student’s Reflection on Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a wonderful initiative which was started to conserve electricity. It was held on the 29th of March and celebrated by switching off all electrical appliances such as tube lights, fans, etc., from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM. It aims to spread awareness about the fact that if we can stop using electricity for just an hour, then we can end up conserving loads of power.

My family and I enthusiastically participated in Earth Hour and switched off all our electrical appliances for an hour. I am sure most people, just like us, enjoyed doing their work by lighting candles. An important outcome of this day was the realization of how it would be to live without power — it threw light on the fact that we depend so much on power that we are forgetting about how a life without electricity would affect us greatly.

I am sure that this day would have a positive impact on us, especially in the future. I really can’t wait for this event next year. So, for those of you who did not observe Earth Hour — if others can lend a hand in conserving electricity and power, then, why can’t you too?
