Confluence of Leaders

Oh! What a sight to behold!!!! A congregation of National Leaders and Freedom Fighters at Oakridge – to honour the country and her Independence! As we celebrate 67 years of freedom and independence, the students of Grade 4 came together to celebrate the occasion by dressing up like their favourite National Leader. The students went all the way, and put in all their efforts to research about their chosen leader and prepare a short speech on how they have influenced the freedom movement. We saw personalities ranging from Rani Lakshmi Bai, Mangal Pandey, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Netaji, Chacha Nehru, Gandhiji, Indira Gandhi and Madam Bhikaiji Cama. The kids spoke about how the Jhansi Ki Rani fought for her kingdom, what happened to Mangal Pandey and how he started the revolt in 1857, etc. The 5th grade volunteers didn’t stay behind – they organized a trivia quiz for the 4th graders that truly helped them recapitulate the work done with our leaders for our FREEDOM.
Did you know ? – The Indian national flag was designed in 1916 by Pingali Venkayya.
