Drama Integration with “Biodiversity”

Integrating with their inquiry on “Biodiversity”, students of Grade 5 brainstormed and decided to use “Problem solving skit” to portray their understanding of the unit. In Problem solving skit students got real life situations and they enacted those situations. Taking their understanding forward, decided on the problems most relevant in today’s time like “Endangered Animals”, “Deforestation”, “Water Pollution”, “Reduce, reuse, recycle”, “Global warming” etc. They have brainstormed, came up with solutions and prepared the role play and presented the same to their peers. They enacted their scenes very creatively using the drama skills learnt and enhancing it with different props made by them .Their peers assessed their performance. After improvising scenes students learnt to formalize their scenes by writing it. According to many students they have developed more understanding about “Biodiversity” after the Drama Integration.
